The Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO turntable is a high-performance, affordable turntable that delivers true analog sound. It was first introduced in 1999 by Pro-Ject, at the height of the Compact Disc era, with the goal of bringing back the analog sound experience for a new, younger generation of record lovers. The company aimed to create a turntable that could deliver true analog sound at a price that was affordable for music enthusiasts, while also being simple to set up and pleasing to use. Additionally, the turntable was designed to exude quality while remaining affordable.

The Debut Carbon EVO is an evolution of the original Debut turntable, which has been continually improved upon over the years with new technologies and trends. The new model features a one-piece carbon-fiber tonearm, which is a significant upgrade from the original. Carbon fiber is an exotic material that is known for its strength and rigidity, making it an ideal choice for a tonearm. The turntable also features thermoplastic elastomer, which is a type of rubber that is known for its high elasticity and durability. This material is used in the construction of the main platter upon which the record is played, which helps to reduce noise and improve stability.

The Debut Carbon EVO also includes a factory-mounted and aligned Sumiko Rainier phono cartridge, which is known for its superb trackability, accuracy, clarity, and smoothness. The Rainier offers a replaceable stylus that can be easily upgraded to a Sumiko Olympia or even a Moonstone, without the need to replace the cartridge, reset the alignment, or rebalance the tonearm.

The turntable also features a 12” steel platter lined with an anti-resonant thermo-plastic elastomer (TPE). The TPE lining helps to dampen resonance, which improves the overall sound quality of the turntable. The added rotational mass of the steel platter with the TPE lining also enhances the flywheel effect, yielding reduced wow and flutter and higher stability.

The turntable also has a stable stance, which benefits from the huge range of higher-end turntable design choices. The base of the turntable is made of MDF (medium-density fiberboard) and is coated in a high-gloss piano finish. The base is designed to be extremely rigid, which helps to reduce unwanted vibrations and improve the overall sound quality of the turntable.

In summary, the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO turntable is a high-performance, affordable turntable that delivers true analog sound. The turntable is simple to set up and pleasing to use, and it exudes quality while remaining affordable. It is a great choice for audiophiles and music enthusiasts who are looking for an affordable yet high-quality turntable.
